Your face will remain tidy because some loose lengths of your facial hair tend to grow in weird directions and hence it is necessary to trim them.
hair removal cream on bum cheeks
We’ve covered the ass in extensive detail. What you’ve read so far should be enough to get you smooth and happy on your bottom. Here’s the thing. Manscaping is about a lot more than having hairless body parts. It’s a process and a philosophy. So, whether you’re grooming your ass or any other part of your body, it’s important to understand all of the steps beyond the application of a razor.
Trimming Is Key
We skipped this in the tutorial, but it’s always a good idea to trim body hair before you shave it. It just makes things easier. With The Lawn Mower 2.0, you’re set to have an easy trim, even when you’re working the ass. Don’t forget your Magic Mat, and for the bum, the technique mirrors everything we just explained for razor work. When you’re not worried about your behind, manscaping still starts with the trimmer.
Shaving Is Second
We already covered this in enough detail. Suffice it to say that your shaving technique will depend on the part of your body that gets shaved, but shaving comes after trimming.
Showering Feels Great
The major step everyone gets wrong is the shower. You want to shower after you shave. This cleans the skin. It removes cut hair so it won’t itch. More importantly, it helps you avoid infections in the skin. Even tiny cuts can host bacteria if they aren’t washed, so always shower after you shave (or at least wash the area that you shaved).
Showering does more than just fight bacteria. It’s also the first step in healing damage. You just hatcheted your body to get rid of hair. That leaves some amount of skin and hair damage. A shower with Crop Cleanser will apply healing formulas to the affected areas. You’ll find reduced instances of irritation and razor burn, and your skin will feel great. If you think a smooth ass is nice, wait until your smooth ass is invigorated by Crop Cleanser.
You’re Not done Yet
After you shower, there’s a little more care to apply. You want to gentle towel dry. Then, you want to apply Crop Preserver. Since this tutorial focused on asses, we need to explain a little. Crop Preserver is ball deodorant, and that’s where it shines. You should always apply it after grooming the boys. When it comes to the ass and chode, Crop Preserver is plenty gentle, and the formula is as good for that skin as for your scrotum, but there’s an important exception. This deodorant is not designed for the anus. It shouldn’t go between your cheeks. It is scented, and we’ve covered how that can be a problem on the butt hole.
That same disclaimer goes for Crop Reviver (and Crop Mop). It’s a toner with a special formula that helps you heal from grooming. One of the key ingredients is aloe vera, and it feels great after a shave. But, it’s also scented, so this is the wrong treatment for the anus itself.
Congratulations! You’re now a verified, ass-shaving manscaper. You have the knowledge. You can get the tools at Manscaped.com. All you need now is experience. Stop delaying and get that ass pristine. You’ll love the way it feels, and it will drive you to experiment with more advanced manscaping and lifestyle enhancements. You don’t know it yet, but your life is only just beginning.
How to Shave Your Buttocks the Right Way for Men
How Do I Shave My Buttocks?
Having hair on your buttocks – including the area around the anus is normal. If you believe in evolutionary science, you already know that millions of years ago, we were likely a much furrier bunch. While we may not be as hairy as our simian ancestors, many of us still have plenty of hair on our tails.
To be sure, body hair does serve a purpose. It keeps us warm when it’s cold and helps to regulate body temperature. The hair on our bums is nature’s way of preventing chaffing while acting as a barrier between skin and hot/cold objects. Maybe that’s why this area of the body is so sensitive?
I decided about this topic because male grooming and personal appearance seem to come up from time to time with my clients. This is particularly true among my male clients who are body builders and want to remove body hair for competition reasons and for the dudes who just want it off their bod.

Rather than send these individuals a bunch of emails that cobbled together material on how grooming can be done for this area of the body – I decided to do the research and write it myself. Perhaps unconventional but when I created this website for men, I promised readers I wasn’t going to hold anything back.
After all – this is a men’s blog. And the truth is I’ve been writing about these kinds of issues in popular men’s health magazines for years.
does shaving bum hair reduce sweat
While many men like their body hair, a good number of guys want to look and feel smooth “back there”. For body builders and others involved in athletic sports, this makes sense when you consider that less hair can mean less sweating and odor. If you hit the gym regularly, you know exactly what I mean. Just keeping it real folks!
One of the main reasons guys choose to keep their buttocks smooth is because their partners find it attractive – similar to how some people like goatees. That may seem silly but it’s true. When you think about it, there is nothing more appealing than a smooth behind.
Finally, some of the added benefits of removing hair from this part of the body is the end result can make you feel clean and fresh. If you already are shaving your genitals and have experienced the pleasure that comes from it, you know exactly what I mean. And don’t be modest folks – lots of guys trim parts of their bodies to show off muscles and tattoos!
Buttocks Shaving: What Supplies Do I need?
While it may seem intuitive that you simply need a good razor to make your bum smooth, it really is a bit more involved than that. What follows are a list of the supplies that you will need.
Shaving Hair Removal Tools
One of the first tools you will want to pick up in an electric razor, also referred to as a body groomer. You will use the groomer to shave the “melon” part of the buttocks – meaning the round areas of your behind (aka cheeks). This hair removal tool should not be used around the anus.
Mangroomer Platinum Pro Body Groomer
One of the best products on the market is the “Mangroomer Platinum”. What’s nice about this hair removal tool is that offers a multi-function neck that can get into hard to reach places, like the curvature of your buttocks.
It’s a best seller on Amazon and can also be used to remove body hair from other parts of the body, such as the back and chest area. I happen to like it because the tool can trim and shape, allowing for 7 different settings to fit your needs.
If you happen to be a guy that doesn’t have a lot of fur on your buttocks or if you really just want to concentrate on the hair around your anus, you might want to pick up a Conair Trimmer for Men.
What’s nice about this particular hair removal tool is how easy it is to use. It’s light and easy to pack away for vacations and business trips. You will find the Conair Trimmer has two long blades and does a great job of trimming down the fuzz.
There’s no getting around it – if you want a really good shave that gives you the end result of a smooth buttocks, you are going to need to pick up a package of razors.
There are tons of razors on the market to choose from but I would recommend something of high quality with proven results. An example of this would be the Gillette Fusion. Each razor has five blades that are sure to get every last hair you are trying to remove.
To save yourself some money, you might want to order the replacement cartridges directly from amazon because they sell them in bulk.
Shaving Gel for Men
One of the most important items you will need for a proper buttocks shaving is shaving gel. The folks at Gillette make a really great product called Gillette Body. You can pick this up at almost any drugstore or you can order directly online.
What’s nice about using this gel is that it is easy to apply, simple to shave off and relatively inexpensive to purchase.
Obviously, you are going to need to see what you are shaving and so having a handheld mirror will be an important. You can buy one of these at virtually any supermarket or drugstore. Your significant other may even have one under the sink (look and see!).
One of the reasons some men fear shaving their buttocks and other parts of the body is because they fear they may irritate the hair follicles or cause an infection. If you use a dirty razor and don’t use an antiseptic afterwards – then yeah – you are asking for problems.
To help you reduce any potential skin irritation and minimize a bacterial infection, do yourself a favor and pick up a dispenser of The Cool Fix by Shaveworks. The nice this about this product is that is has three benefits: 1. Disinfects skin, 2. Conditions; and 3. Cools.
Other Buttocks Shaving Supplies
In addition to the above mentioned items, you are also going to want to pick up the following:
1 Body Powder
2 Exfoliation ClotheBody PowderThe body powder will be used after you are all done shaving. Using a powder will help keep your skin fresh and well ventilated. You can buy something cheap like body powder or invest a little more in a quality product, like Gold Bond Ultimate Comfort Body Powder with Aloe. It’s free of talc and will protect your skin and hair follicles against chaffing.
An exfoliation clothe is used to keep the skin free of debris and keep hair follicles clean for when new hair grows (and it will grow back!). A fairly inexpensive one can be purchased online at Amazon. It’s the Asian Exfoliating Bath Washcloth that comes in a pack of green and red.
1. Take a hot shower
I recommend that you take a warm to hot shower and use really good anti-bacterial soap, such as Dial. Make sure that you thoroughly clean yourself and lather up your entire buttocks area, including around the anus.
FYI: Avoid taking a bath for this step. Think about it for a moment. If you are sitting in hot bathwater with soap, are you really going to be able to rinse off bacteria that has been accumulating in the bathwater? Showering is a much more sanitary approach.
2. Use a NEW razor for cheeks (Manual Style)
The second step is to open up that package of razors and pull one out. Never, ever shave yourself with a used razor. If you do this, you run the risk of a bacterial infection, such as staph. And no – rinsing your razor under alcohol or soapy water isn’t guaranteed to kill the bacteria. Just don’t do it!
Now under the hot shower, take a little shaving gel and apply it to one of your buttocks cheeks. Use an upward motion that goes against the hair – in other words, from bottom to up. Start from the outer cheek area in sections. Depending upon the size of your bum, you will likely have 4-5 sections.
After each “pass” make sure you rinse your razor off under the shower head. Bear in mind you do not need to press hard when you are shaving. The idea is to use a gentle and slow approach. This will help to prevent cuts and nicks.
3. Use a new razor for between cheeks
After you have completed shaving the melon part of your buttocks, you will now want to focus your attention to the “crack” area of your behind. This likely will be the most challenging part of your buttocks shaving journey. Use a new razor for this chore because the one you were previously using is likely all clogged up and the blade dull.
Remember that handheld mirror we talked about earlier? You will need to have this ready.
For shaving in between the crack, bend over in the shower and get the inside of your bum nice and wet. Then apply a little gel. Now step out of the shower and grab that hand mirror and place it flat on the floor.
Crouching over the mirror so you can see your anus area, gently – ever so gently – and SLOWLY begin to shave the hair.
If this step is just too intense for you, just use the Conair trimmer that was previously mentioned.
4. Rinse off
Once you are satisfied with the removal of your body hair from your buttocks area, step back into the shower and rinse yourself off. Make sure you use the antibacterial soap again to make sure you are cleaning out all of those freshly opened hair follicles. Cold water is suggested to help close pores.
5. Pat Dry Yourself
Once you are down with the shower, grab a fresh towel and gently pat dry yourself – particularly around your newly shaven buttocks. Avoid rubbing or any abrasive movements as this may irritate your skin.
6. Apply the antiseptic
Take the antiseptic gel that you have purchased (at least I hope you have!) and apply it liberally to your bum. There is a chance you might feel a bit of a burn, which is completely normal. If you are worried about this, try a small amount first and then if it feels OK, use more.
7. Use the Powder
Once you have applied the gel and it has thoroughly dried, you will want to apply the powder. You won’t need a lot – just enough to sprinkle over your melons.
Try to use the powder every day after the first week of shaving. This will help you to feel fresh and encourage proper ventilation. https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZS7IWWLYWrE

How to Shave Your Butt (Illustrated)
Updated on January 6, 2020
How to Shave Your Butt
Why Shave Your Butt? (Or Why Not?)
Many men have hair on their buttocks and around their anus–it’s quite normal and natural. The hair on your butt does serve a purpose; it helps minimize friction and chafing while also keeping the area ventilated and dry.
However, a growing number of men are removing their body hair, including their tail feathers.
Some people ask, why would someone want to do this? There are a number of horror stories about pubic shaving, but for men who can master the art, it is well worth the reward.
Removing body hair can make you look and feel clean, plus it can also be sexually arousing and stimulating not only to you, but to your partner (that is of course if your partner prefers a smooth bum–some don’t).
What areas do you like to shave on your butt?
- On top of the cheeks
- In between the cheeks
- Both on top and in between the cheeks
How To Shave Your Butt
Follow these step-by-step instructions:
Step 1 – Shower and Dry Yourself
You want to make sure you don’t introduce any new bacteria to your skin while you are shaving, so thoroughly clean your body and then completely dry off.
A hot shower or bath is recommended—this will help soften the hair and prepare your skin. Be sure to dry off with a fresh towel as a re-used towel may contain bacteria.
Step 2 – Clean and Disinfect Your Razor
While I recommend you start with a fresh razor, if you happen to be using a razor that’s relatively new, then you first want to make sure you remove any existing debris and bacteria.
You can remove hair lodged between the blades by running the blade under a heavy stream of water or gently tapping the razor on the base of the sink. Once you’ve cleaned the razor, pour a little rubbing alcohol over the top of the blades to kill any bacteria.
If you’re using an electric groomer, you can clean the unit by opening the razor and removing stray hairs. To disinfect the unit, dab some alcohol onto a cotton swab and wipe the blades.
Step 3 – Trim the Hair on Your Buttocks
If the hair on your butt is long, you are going to need to trim it down so you can effectively use your manual razor or body groomer. A clogged razor will make your shaving more difficult and could create some painful snagging as hairs get stuck.
If the hair is thick, then I’d recommend using the Phillips Norelco Bodygroom Pro. If the hair is light and thin, then you should be able to use the Wahl Micro Groomsman.
Step 4 – Apply Shaving Gel to Your Buttocks
Squeeze a small amount of shave gel into your palm, add a little water, and then apply to one of your buttocks (just one, not both); next, rinse hands clean and dry them. The reason you want to apply to just one cheek is so that you can easily pull them apart without your hands slipping—this will make it easier to shave.
Step 5 – Shave Your Buttocks
Wet your razor blade with cold water and begin shaving the hair on your buttocks. If you’re using a body groomer, then just begin shaving.
If you want a close shave, then shave against the grain; if you tend to be more prone to skin irritation, then you may want to shave with the grain.
Ideally, you should be standing up with your butt facing the mirror in your bathroom; this will make it easier for you to see what you’re doing without straining your back too much.
As you shave, the razor will do the work, so it only needs to be pressed lightly against the skin. For those using a manual razor, rinse the blade frequently in cold water (cold water minimizes redness) to dislodge any hairs that are stuck. If you’re using a body groomer, then frequently remove any excess hair from the blades and comb.
If by chance you nick yourself, you can use a styptic pen to stop the bleeding.
Step 6 – Shave Between the Cheeks
Shaving between the cheeks is the trickiest part as it’s the hardest to see. This is why you need a handheld mirror for this step.
Once you’ve shaved your butt cheeks, it’s time to shave between the cheeks. To do this effectively, lay a handheld mirror on the floor, facing up. Then, squat above the mirror, and begin shaving.
Continue to rinse your razor frequently to prevent the cartridge from becoming clogged. If you have just a light amount of hair growth around your anus, you can use the Wahl Micro Groomsman personal trimmer instead.
Step 7 – Rinse Your Buttocks
After you’ve removed all the hair and are satisfied with your shave, rinse any excess shave gel and stray hairs off with cold water. You may also want to use a non-irritating body wash.
Step 8 – Dry Yourself Off
Pat yourself dry with a fresh, clean towel; using an old towel may introduce bacteria onto the skin.
Step 9 – Apply Antiseptic to Your Buttocks
Apply a generous and even amount of antiseptic/razor bump treatment to your skin. This treatment is best applied right after you rinse your body. Allow the antiseptic treatment to dry before applying any body powder or putting on clothes.
Depending on your skin type, this may or may not burn a little. You should apply the antiseptic for the first few days after you shave, every day.
Step 10 – Apply Body Powder to Your Buttocks
Now apply body powder to your bum; this will keep you dry and fresh, plus prevent any chafing or itching. You should re-apply the body powder every day.
Step 11 – Exfoliate Your Buttocks
After a few days have lapsed, you will need to start to exfoliate your butt to prevent ingrown hairs and skin irritation. Using an exfoliating cloth will help loosen the hair and remove dead skin cells. You will need to do this every few days, but not every day in most cases.
Recommended Supplies for Shaving the Butt
Before you begin, you’ll need to make sure you have all the things you’ll need. Here are the recommended shaving supplies.
When it comes to shaving your buttocks, you’re going to need a few tools.
For most body grooming you do, you can generally use just an electric groomer or a manual razor. But, in the case of shaving your buttocks, you really need both to achieve an effective shave. The electric body groomer is great to remove hair on the cheeks, but usually too big to get around the anus, so you need a manual razor for that area.
Philips Norelco Bodygroom Pro
The Norelco Bodygroom Pro is the #1 best selling body groom on Amazon—a huge favorite among well-trimmed men.
What I like about this unit is the dual end shaving it offers; the shaving head at the top is great for close shaves, and the trimmer at the bottom of the unit with the hair guard is great for trimming down hair.
You can use this unit to trim down the hair on your buttocks before shaving with a razor. If you just want to shave your cheeks, then you can use the shaving head to achieve a closer shave, but you won’t be able to really use this unit “between the cheeks.”
This unit retails for about $70 and is a great investment for all your body grooming needs.
Wahl Micro Groomsman
If you don’t have a lot of hair on your buttocks or you are in between trims, then you can use something as simple as the Wahl Micro Grooms to cut down the hair.
This unit is great when there is just a little hair that needs to be trimmed but if the hair is thick and long, then you’re going to want to use the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Pro above.
This unit is also small enough that you can use it around the anus. If you’re wanting to avoid a manual razor altogether, then you should pair this with the Bodygroom Pro, and both should be able to fulfill all your grooming needs.
This unit retails for about $9 on Amazon.
Schick Quattro Titanium
If you want a close, super smooth shave, then you’re going to need to use a manual razor (after you have trimmed down the hair with a body groomer).
I highly recommend the Schick Quattro Titanium razors; I think they are one of the best manual razors you can use for body grooming. The blades are wrapped in wires to prevent you from pressing too deeply into the skin, thus minimizing nicks and irritation, like razor bumps.
Eight cartridges will run you about $17 on Amazon.
The Art of Shaving Unscented Shave Cream is an excellent product to use to shave your buttocks. While most guys may want to use ordinary shaving cream, I really recommend this formula. Let me tell you why:
First, it’s one of the smoothest shave creams you will ever use—it is incredibly emollient.
Second, it makes a wonderful rich lather, but not too much that you’re unable to see what you’re doing. And lastly, it also moisturizes the skin really well, and great for sensitive skin.
This product retails for about $25 on Amazon.
In order to properly shave your bum, you’ve got to be able to see it.
Line of sight is the most difficult problem with shaving your butt, so a mirror is a must-have, and I’m going to show you some tricks for how to use it (see instructions below).
You will need a decent-sized handheld mirror to properly perform this task. I recommend this large 11″ mirror by Goody that retails for about $7 on Amazon.
There are many nightmare stories about guys who have had horrible experiences shaving their butts. In all cases, none of them used an antiseptic.
Antiseptic is important because it soothes the skin, closes pores, and kills any bacteria. When you don’t use antiseptic you increase the chance of skin irritation.
I recommend a product called the Cool Fix. It’s a silicone-based antiseptic that not only conditions the skin and kills bacteria, but it also has a cooling effect that’s quite refreshing.
The Cool Fix retails for about $26 on Amazon.
After you remove all the hair from your buttocks, the absence of hair will mean that you will not be able to ventilate this area as well as before, so it’s crucial that you invest in a good body powder.
Body powder is going to help keep your skin dry and smooth.
I recommend the Jack Black Dry Down Friction-Free Body Powder. This powder is a high-quality corn starch powder that feels great on the skin and keeps you from feeling clammy. This scent is light and fresh, and the green tea, cucumber, and lavender extracts are great for the skin.

As the hair starts to re-grow, you’re going to want to exfoliate the skin to help loosen the hairs and dead skin cells. This will help promote healthy skin and reduce skin irritation.

Face facts: Everyone’s hairy. That includes your crack, you ass. Not that we’re insulting you into reading this piece of high literature; we literally mean you have hair in, around, up and down your anus. You don’t need
research to prove that to you. But if your valley hasn’t seen the sight of a razor yet, pat yourself on the rear—you’re that one in a million anomaly who doesn’t manscape their fanny. One, because you’re manly and two, that’s not what men do. Basically, you’re a coward. Moral of the story: shaving your butt doesn’t make you manly or feminine. Whatever your race/gender, ’tis never the season for a gorilla-esque derrière.
Technically, the procedure is pretty simple. But…there’s a catch. Your ass has a crack and somewhere within, lies a hole (sorry!), which happens to be blade-sensitive. Things can really go south for you if the razor slithers. So, brace yourself on what we are about to teach you and drop them pants. Gather some courage. And shave that fucking ass clean!
Here’s what you’d need before beginning your social experiment:
You use one already, so just grab that quick. But only to rinse it, dry and keep it back again. To shave your butt, you need a brand-new razor! And one, with multiple razors for a smooth swipe. Don’t risk having germs/bacteria from your last shave with the razor, trickle into your butt. It’s your ass, handle it with care.
Contrary to a razor, a battery operated body groomer can tap places that are tricky to reach. For example: the back and curvature of your peach. Go in for ones with multiple settings for best results.
If you’re not exactly a bear, with just little hair around your hole, suggest you go in for a personal groomer. Spot the loose strands and trim them. Easy.
As much as you’d like it, you don’t have the power to zoom into your ass with ease. A few of you could be flexible, but it’s almost impossible for some. But while striking the razor on a fluffy bum, ensure A-list visibility. Grab a hand-held mirror for insider access into your buns!
