But how does this reputable Land Rover compare to one of its top competitors the Audi Q7? Here’s a side by side comparison of the Audi q7 vs Range rover sport and why the Range Rover Sport is the better option for your family.

Audi q7 vs Range rover sport

Performance and Preference

When it comes to high-end performance for the Range Rover Sport, expect nothing shy of superior excellence within engine power. The standard 340-horsepower Supercharged V6 is plenty of power to haul trailers weighing up to 7,716-lbs which is ideal for the family camper or boat. Choose the available 254-horsepower Turbocharged diesel engine, 380-horsepower Supercharged V6, or go green with the option for the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) model which gives drivers 398-horsepower with the 2.0-Liter 296-horsepower engine and the high-capacity 102-horsepower electric motor.

If you’re scouting the Audi Q7, you’ll have only two engine options. The standard 252-horsepower 2.0_liter TFSI® four-cylinder engine which only pulls a trailered weight of 4,400-lbs, and the 333-horsepower 3.0-Liter six-cylinder engine which is only capable of hauling up to 7,700-lbs. Limited power and limited engine choices make the Range Rover Sport the better buy for Performance power.

Trim Level Options

When it comes to finding the right fit for your driving style and family needs, the Range Rover Sport gives drivers a wide variety of trim levels to choose from. With a starting MSRP of $66,750 for the Range Rover Sport SE, prospecting buyers can also choose between the HSE, Supercharged, HSE Dynamic, Supercharged Dynamic, Autobiography Dynamic, and the SVR trim level. The top of the line SVR trim has a base MSRP of $113,600.

Though the Audi Q7 has a starting MSRP of $49,000 for the Premium trim level, the Q7 provides limited choices for drivers who are seeking the epitome of luxury SUV performance. Aside from the Premium base trim, the Audi Q7 is available in the Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels.

Interior Quality and Versatility

If you’re seeking innovative technology for every commute, the Range Rover Sport offers the Touch Pro™ Duo in-car infotainment system which displays all your multimedia needs and navigation on a ten-inch high-definition touchscreen. Customizing your levels of comfort and driving settings to your liking is easier than ever! The full-color heads-up display is also a handy feature and provides more awareness and readiness while focusing on the road ahead while on your directions at the same time. Simple to use technology and convenient for the whole family!

The Audi Q7 comes with the MMI® All-in touch with handwriting-recognition technology which can become tricky to use and less reliable over time. The Infotainment display screen is also smaller at eight-inches which doesn’t cut it if you’re looking for the latest and greatest technology that you’ll find in the Range Rover Sport.

The Q7 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Q7 offers an optional backup collision prevention system which use rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Q7 Prestige helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Q7 and the Range Rover Sport have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all-wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

For its top level performance in all IIHS frontal, side, rear impact and roof-crush tests, and with its optional front crash prevention system, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Q7 the rating of “Top Pick” for 2017, a rating granted to only 139 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The Range Rover Sport has not been tested, yet.
