hermes kelly bag sizes

In this article, we will review the hermes bag, Hermes Kelly Bag Sizes and the hermes kelly sizes and prices. When you hear the brand Hermes, the chances are you will automatically think of the most famous styles; Birkin, Constance or Kelly. Whilst these are the epitome of luxury and exude stature and class, there are so many more bag styles to the Hermes brand all of which are stunning in their own right.

The Hermes Bag, commonly known as Hermes bag or Hermes handbag, is the most famous design and also the signature of this brand. Once you know what to search for you will be able to find many places to buy Hermes bags online, at your nearest department store or in a luxury boutique.

Hermes Kelly Bag Sizes

hermes kelly sizes and prices

I receive a lot of questions about the Kelly bag and Hermes bags in general, so today I’m making my best efforts to address a few of the most frequently asked in this post! I’d like to caveat that I am definitely not an expert. I only have a few items and have been buying Hermes on and off for about a decade or so. I have tried my best to share my perspectives here, derived from my own experiences. I hope this is useful for some of you!Sizes side by side

28cm (left) and 32cm (right)

What size do you recommend?

Hermes makes quite a few different sizes of Kelly bags – 15cm, 20cm, 25cm, 28cm, 32cm, 35cm, 40cm being the most commonly referenced. The sizes I’ve bolded are probably the most popular, for the reason that they fit a reasonable amount without feeling “big”. I have the 28cm (in black) and the 32cm (in green/gray) and you can see how they compare in sizes above – they are quite close and fit a fairly similar amount.

I’m very happy to have both the 28cm and 32cm size and they both fit into my life. If I were just to choose one size though, it would be the 28cm. It is light and easy to carry, fits a decent amount but still is a small enough size to transition easily to evening.Size comparison

Retourne Kelly bags

Sellier or retourne?

For a quick and dirty explanation, sellier refers to the Kelly bags you see with very sharp edges/corners, while retourne refers to those bags with “softer” corners. All Birkins you see are retourne for example – there is no sellier option there, which there is for Kelly bags. Both my Kellys are retourne, which I personally prefer as I have a more casual lifestyle and retourne tends to fit more than sellier style Kellys. That being said, to me a sellier Kelly is the classic Kelly and can look very architectural and chic. They also tend to hold their shape better – Kelly bags in a size 35 or even 32 that are retourne and made in a softer leather can “slouch” after some time.

What leather?

My favorite leathers for a Kelly would be togo/clemence, chevre, and box. My gray Kelly is made in togo leather and it’s a lovely, hardy and soft leather that feels like a leather pillow! It also does great in the rain and is very hardy (unlike more delicate leathers, like box). My recommendation for box is strictly theoretical and in my head since I don’t have a bag in the leather. I have however, fondled many a box Kelly and it is in my mind the quintessential  combination. I’d love to have a bag in box one day.

My favorite leather however like many others is chevre – it’s water resistant, light as a feather, has a beautiful texture and takes color beautifully. I’d love to have more bags in chevre!

Sizing what fits

What fits in each?

Above is a photo of what I usually carry in each bag – the 32cm size on the right fits everything in front of the 28cm on the left, plus those items in front of the 32cm. The 28cm naturally, fits all the items in front of it.

In the 28, I usually have my sunglasses, wallet, notebook, phone, makeup bag, and keys (not pictured). In the 32, I can comfortable add my favorite treasured Kindle, some mints, and a snack bar (always a good idea, otherwise I end up ordering a breakfast burrito in the morning). I will add that I don’t like to overstuff my bags – I can never find anything when that occurs and I end up spilling everything out trying to answer my cell phone. You could probably fit more in each bag if you wanted but I would suggest not weighing them down too much!

Is the Kelly “easy” to carry?

Shopping, errands, day to day: I do bring a Kelly along with me on errands and it’s an easy bag for the purpose – there’s a shoulder strap, ample room, and a secure top so things don’t fall over in the car. However, I do have to say that if I’m carrying lots of items and taking things in and out frequently, I find a tote easier to wear – you don’t have to “unclasp” anything to get items out and there’s lots of room. On those days, I usually carry a Garden Party.

Travel: On most of my holidays, I like to walk around a lot but also worry about belongings being secure. I personally wouldn’t take my 32 Kelly on a city vacation – it can feel heavy after quite a few hours and the size is probably a “wee” bit too large for my preference, though I have a friend who used her 35 all throughout travels in Beijing/Hong Kong. The 28 size for me is perfect for city exploration.

Work: I carry my Kelly frequently to work! The design is still quite discreet and not so recognized as the Birkin. It carries everything I need on most days. On the days that I carry documents, I bring an open top tote instead.Wearing a 28, "all buttoned up" with clasps and turnlock affixed

Wearing a 28, “all buttoned up” with clasps and turnlock affixedWearing a 32 how I normally do - clasp fixed, straps hanging

Wearing a 32 how I normally do – clasp fixed, straps hanging

How difficult is it to keep “unclasping and reclasping” it all the time?

On the topic of the clasp – I rarely carry my Kelly “all buttoned up” but instead usually leave the straps hanging and simply the turnlock clasped. Closed in this fashion, it’s basically one step to open the Kelly – just turn the lock and flip open the top! To close, do the reverse.

I can open and close the 28cm size with one hand while the bag is hanging from my shoulder. However, for the 32, it’s more difficult as the bag is a bit larger and more difficult to close with one hand for me – sometimes I have to use my other hand and swing the bag up so I can close it. Of course, this can get cumbersome! Perhaps it’s because I am short and have T-Rex arms – would love to hear if other ladies have this problem!

Any other tips?

My advice when buying anything but especially something like a handbag that you’ll use all the time is: do your research. Take time and figure out what you like! If you can, visit a local store and try out different sizes, see the leather and color samples, and see if other bag styles might work better for you. Hermes bags are for me at least, luxuries that I don’t buy every day- works of craftsmanship that should be appreciated, and you have to make sure that you personally love the style, color, size, those details.

These are expensive items, that are made to be used and enjoyed. Don’t get pressured or feel you have to buy a particular bag, just because it is popular, everywhere right now, or being offered to you. The right one will come along!

Not every bag is for everybody! There are many styles out there that I appreciate on others, but just simply don’t work for me. So again, take time, explore, and I am sure you will find the perfect one for you.

I hope this can help some of you, and if you have more questions, feel free to leave them in the comments (I receive a lot of questions by email and it’s difficult for me to get to them all individually).

PS: Here are some of my favorite bags with shapes and utility very similar to the Kelly –

From Fendi (under $2500), Ferragamo (classic and under $1500) and Michael Kors (under $400!)

I also have to point out this fabulous Nancy Gonzalez crocodile red satchel, for under $4000 (that’s half of a calf leather Kelly!)

The crème de la crème of the Hermes range, Birkin bags are chic, timeless and highly sought after making them the most popular of the designs. Over the years the Birkin has come in various sizes, colours and skins, changing and adapting seamlessly to the vogue of the time.

As it stands now, the smaller 25cm Birkin has become increasingly popular due to its cute size making it perfect for an evening event or popping out for a quick lunch with the girls. If you’re looking for something slightly bigger, the 30cm is more geared towards every day wear.

The Constance bag, popularised by Jackie Kennedy, is a superbly versatile shoulder bag and is far more difficult to source than other bags – particularly now that Hermes keep threatening discontinue this hands free style.

Truly perfect for all occasions, the Constance is a must have staple in any woman’s wardrobe. Team with skinny jeans, Chanel jacket and Alexander McQueen scarf for Parisian day chic, or with your favourite couture dress for an extravagant soirée.

Whilst the Birkin is the signature of Hermes, in recent years the Kelly has become hugely popular due to its slender shape and strap design making it easier to carry. Opt for a 28cm one to house all of your day to day products or select a smaller size to glamorously compliment any dinner or event outfit.

It’s not just the standard Kelly design that has overtaken Birkin’s popularity recently, the Kelly Cut has also shared the limelight – presumably due to its dainty size making it fantastically adaptable and easy to carry.

Whilst the small size is more suited to a dinner or event such as a wedding, it is also ideal for luncheons to house the essentials you need to stay looking chic and sophisticated.

The Mini Kelly Pochette has become extremely hard to source of late as they are so popular. Everyone seems to love the small bags at the moment and it’s no surprise with high end designers such as Chloe, Fendi and Louis Vuitton showcasing this style in their Spring 2016 collections.

We are continuously on the search for this style so do get in touch to see what we have available.

This is a chic and very versatile clutch which has also become increasingly popular over the last 2 years. Its simple design means it will perfectly compliment any outfit, whilst the signature Hermes ‘H’ adds to its luxuriousness and exclusivity.

Whilst the Birkin is the international symbol of Hermes, the Haut à Courroies (HAC) is the original. This bags was designed in the late 1800’s and was initially intended to carry riding boots and other equestrian equipment. However, in today’s world it is mainly used as a stylish luxury travel bag and is quite popular with men, too.

The main difference between the Birkin and HAC is the size; the HAC is much taller and normally comes in sizes of 40cm and above giving you plenty of space for all of your long haul flight carry on essentials. As well as this, the handles of the Haut à Courroies are shorter than the Birkin due to its intent to be carried in the hand rather than over the arm.

If you are looking for something which is casual and functional which is still stylish, the mini Evelyn is ideal. Also on trend at the moment is the mini Evelyn – the tiny size. This style has a long strap to allow you to wear it across your body whilst you pop to a stylish boutique giving you both hands to raid your favourite designer’s rail!

Currently we have a mini Evelyn in stock in this glorious yet calming Blue Paradise. Crafted from the finest soft clemence leather, this bag exudes an effortlessly relaxed appearance. The large H on this style of bag adds to the luxury and showcases the Hermes brand.

Last but not least, is the Jypsiere. This is another refined and easy to wear day bag, perfect for weekends away to your favourite city. And, with its shoulder strap you are free to do whatever you want; shopping in exclusive stores, strolling along the French Rivera or sipping a delectable glass of your preferred champagne. What’s more, this is one of Hermes’ more exclusive styles meaning few people own a Jypsiere bag, adding to its exceptional and luxurious aura.

If you are yearning for this perfect day bag, you’re in luck; we currently have a Jypsiere in blue colvert and turqoise perfectly matched with palladium hardware and created from wonderfully soft Clemence leather. Enquire today if you are interested in purchasing this bag.

AliExpress is a massively popular Chinese online retail service owned by Alibaba Group. It was launched in 2010 and hasn’t stopped its journey to becoming the ‘biggest online marketplace of the world‘ ever-since. AliExpress stands toe-to-toe even with Amazon in terms of buyers worldwide. It offers wholesale goods at direct-to-consumer prices from Chinese sellers.×280&!4&btvi=2&fsb=1&xpc=c4hiBtY7a0&p=https%3A//

It also works as a great dropshipping model for a lot of e-commerce entrepreneurs. Along with a lot of good sides, AliExpress has some cons as well. The biggest problem is the shipping time of AliExpress orders, which is pretty long considering the goods come from China. Also, some orders can be very expensive after shipping charges and taxes.

So, it is a good thing to have some AliExpress alternatives whenever you don’t like its services. That’s why we are telling you about 21 best sites like AliExpress. Some of these websites offer cheaper prices and faster shipping on certain products. And, you can also use them to maintain a nice profit margin for your dropshipping business.

The delivery time of LightInTheBox is also similar to AliExpress as their warehouses are located only in China. But, you may get a faster shipping time due to having fewer orders to ship. You can pay for your orders with PayPal, Western Union, or your credit card.

Wish is a widely popular online marketplace where you can buy almost anything. From clothing to footwear, electronics, healthcare items, and many more things, you can get them all for an incredibly cheap price. They are also known to offer great deals and coupons to their new customers.

Their shipping time is also faster than AliExpress as their products come from sellers located in small countries. Wish also provides an advanced rating system that is very helpful for both the consumers as well as sellers. It helps promote good ones.

Overstock is a US-based online marketplace. It makes profit by selling wholesale products at a highly cheap price tag. A major portion of their stock is comprised of overstock from the major retailers or their seconds. You can find some really amusing deals here. The shipping time will also be lower as compared to the Chinese marketplaces. You can get your items within a week.

The product range of Overstock is incredible. You can find everything such as clothing, decor, kitchen appliances, and many more items. You can even find furniture and other big home items. So, you can use to fill your house with great stuff at a reduced price.

Their shipping prices are also low but you will get a long shipping time. It is the perfect website for buyers who want the lowest prices but can wait for their orders for at least a month.
