1. GoTrax Glider

GoTrax Glider

GoTrax Glider

Overall, the Glider delivers in every department that you would want an electric scooter to deliver in. It’s cheap ($199.99), fast, light, portable, packed full of features, goes far and has a fashionably sophisticated design.$199.99$299.99SEE SCOOTER

Before I even start this review I am going to say one thing.

This is THE best cheap electric scooter.

No matter if you are a kid or an adult, you’re going to love the GoTrax Glider.

Want to go fast? Yes.

Want to go far? Yes.

Want a fast charge time? Yes.

Want a scooter that’s light and easy to carry? Yes.

Want a scooter that looks great and is packed full of features? Yes.

Talk about ticking all the boxes! I am going to show you why the GoTrax Glider is a fantastic all-round option.

First of all, the Glider epitomizes modern design. It has a sleek, compact, fashionably sophisticated design that pairs technology with practicality. The LED display screen on the top of the handlebar post, alongside the built-in headlight that sits flush in the handlebar post transforms the scooter into a tech gadget that catches eyes as you glide through a crowd, round the neighborhood and down the city streets.

Personally, I prefer the black model but you can also get it in red or pink.

Above, I mentioned a few check-boxes that the Glider ticks. Now, it’s time to explore these further. Strap in.

You can hop on the Glider, push the acceleration button / lever and throttle the scooter to reach a top speed of 16 mph. Bearing in mind the fastest electric scooter that I have ever ridden and reviewed had a top speed of 18 mph, 16 mph is outstanding, especially for how cheap the Glider is.

Just imagine, it’s a Saturday, the air is crisp and the sun is shining, you slip on your trainers, get on your Glider and roll along to the store, pick up an iced coffee, ride your scooter to the park and decide to carry on soaking in the sun so you keep riding block after block.

Now, what if I told you that you could do all of the above and ride the Glider continuously for 3…4…5…6…7 miles. Sounds pretty damn good, right?

Well, how about 9 miles. Yes, 9 miles!

This little pocket rocket will not only propel you at 16 mph but let you glide along for miles on end – ideal if you need a cheap electric scooter for commuting.

Okay, so you’ve hit the 9 mile mark and the battery runs out. You don’t want to have to have wait 12 hours for it to fully charge (some scooters actually take this long). GoTrax know that it could be frustrating to have to wait for so long to pick the scooter up and start riding again so they took this into consideration when designing the Glider.

It only takes 3 hours to fully charge.

You can use the Glider the exact same day you get it.

Where the Glider really comes into its own is how much it weighs. Some electric scooters weigh up to 67 lbs. The Glider, on the other hand, is the lightest electric scooter of the whole bunch.

It weighs just 20 lbs, has an easy to use folding mechanism and can be stored with ease.

The Glider is also the only electric scooter on this list that is water resistant, meaning you’ll have no issues riding it in light rain.

Overall, the Glider delivers in every department that you would want an electric scooter to deliver in. It’s cheap ($199.99), fast, light, portable, packed full of features, goes far and has a fashionably sophisticated design.

The GoTrax Glider is the highest scoring value for money electric scooter that I have ever reviewed.Further Information: Read my Full Review of the GoTrax Glider

2. Razor E100

Razor E100

Razor E100

Ideal for any parent that wants to buy their child their first electric scooter. With a top speed of 10 mph, a continuous run time of 40 mins (about 5-7 miles) and an easy to use brake and accelerator, your kid will be up and running in no time.$124.99$169.99SEE SCOOTER

I could start this review by telling you how great this scooter is and the value for money you get from it. BUT, you must know something.

The Razor E100 is a kids electric scooter. If you are an adult I recommend taking a look at the GoTrax Glider (this is, by far, the best cheap option for adults).

Anyway, back to the Razor E100.

This little scooter is not only a Parent’s Choice Award Winner, it is the cheapest electric scooter.

You can pick up the Razor E100 for about $124.99.

What does it have to offer? I hear you say.

Well, it is ideal for any parent that wants to buy their child their first electric scooter. With a top speed of 10 mph, a continuous run time of 40 mins (about 5-7 miles) and an easy to use brake and accelerator, your kid will be up and running in no time.

P.s. If you are an adult reading this review thinking ‘Hmmm, I know this is a kids scooter, but I might be able to ride it’. If that was you, think again! Unless you weigh under 120 lbs, the Razor E100 won’t be able to support you.

Because of it’s kids sized frame and deck it is among the lightest of electric scooters, weighing in at 29 lbs. However, it doesn’t have a folding frame which means your little one won’t be able to carry it. But then again, will they even need to carry it! Most probably not. They just care about having fun while riding it.

Often, no matter the product you’re buying, the cheaper it is, the poorer the quality. This couldn’t be further from the truth of the Razor E100. It comes from the Razor brand. That should say it all, but if you are unsure of who they are then let me explain.

Razor are the worldwide leaders in scooters. In fact, they have sold a staggering 13 million electric scooters and their products have won multiple awards for their quality and innovation, just like the Parent’s Choice Award that the E100 won.

Ultimately, the sturdy frame of the E100 handles wear and tear with ease. This scooter will last for a long time.

This cheap and cheerful electric scooter will give your child hours of fun. And best of all, it is available in a range of colors, including: redbluepurpleblack and sweet pea (pink).Further Information: Like the sound of the Razor E100? Want to know more? Check out my full Razor E100 Review

3. Razor E200S

Razor E200S

Razor E200S

With the easy to remove, padded, seat which lets you decide how you want to ride the E200S (standing or sitting), you essentially get 2 electric scooters for the price of one!.$199.99$339.99SEE SCOOTER

To give you a variety of cheap electric scooters under $200 to choose from, I have also included the Razor E200S in my list.

The E200S is the model up of Razor E100 (which I reviewed earlier on in this post). And, if you haven’t noticed yet, it comes with a detachable seat, meaning you essentially get 2 electric scooters for the price of one!

For $199.99 you get an electric scooter with a top speed of 12 mph, a run time of 40 minutes (about 7-8 miles), large 8 inch, air filled, tires which enable a smooth riding experience and an easy to remove, padded, seat which lets you decide how you want to ride the E200S.

You can either: 1. Keep the seat on and ride it while sitting down – ideal for those of you who like to take life easy, or 2. Completely remove the seat and seat post to ride standing up.

If you like the idea of having the riding versatility that the E200S offers, just be aware that this scooter can only support riders up to 154 lbs.

The E200S isn’t as sleek as the GoTrax Glider but it is vibrant in its color, which, if you are considering this scooter for your child, could be winning feature. After all, I’m sure they would like to impress their friends with it.

Like the Razor E100, the E200S cannot be folded and due to its larger size to support more weight (154 lbs) it also weighs more (42 lbs without the seat, 46 lbs with the seat). It is good to bear this in mind when deciding which cheap electric scooter is going to be best for you. Personally, I’d opt for the GoTrax Glider – it’s 26 lbs lighter!

Although the Razor E200S has a lot to offer, especially in terms of its versatility enabling you to essentially get 2 scooters for the price of 1, the Glider is the same price but, in my opinion, and from my first hand experience, provides much more value for your money.

1. Gotrax G2

GoTrax G2

GoTrax G2$229.99$349.99SEE SCOOTER

Maybe you want to push the boat out and spend a little more than $200. If that sounds like you then you’re going to like the sound of the GoTrax G2.

But wait, If you’ve seen any of my posts before you’ll know that I like to be as honest and transparent as possible. So, before you read any further, I strongly recommend that you opt for the GoTrax Glider. It delivers a better performance for less of the price. You get far more value for money with the Glider.

For those of you are still interested in the G2, let’s go.

As you may have already guessed, the G2 comes from the same brand as the GoTrax Glider. So, that means you will benefit from almost all of the exact same features as the Glider, including: the handlebar display that lets you easily monitor battery life, check the speedometer and see gear changes, as well as the LED headlight that lets you ride at night while it illuminates the sidewalk in front of you.

The GoTrax G2 also features the easy to use folding mechanism, and can be stored with ease. After all, it only weighs 24 lbs.

However, where the G2 differs from its counterpart, the Glider, is the speed and mileage that its 200w motor and battery can deliver.

You’ll be able to reach a top speed of 12.5 mph letting you glide effortlessly along the sidewalk for a range of 5-7 miles.

Often with cheaper models, the frames tend to be bulky and not the most attractive. Along with the Glider, the G2 breaks this mold.

I have to say, I really like the design of the G2. The block, black, color, red highlights and 6 inch tires play up the modern, slim, silhouette that the scooter has to offer.

Overall, the G2 is a good choice if you are new to scooting and want a model that not only looks great but delivers a decent performance too. Ultimately, though, I would advise that you pick the Glider. It’s a far better scooter and costs less than the G2 ($199,99 vs $229.99).

2. Razor E300

razor e300
Razor E300

Razor E300

The Razor E300 is ideal for teenagers or adults who are looking to buy a cheap electric scooter for leisurely use. It has an impressive 10 mile range and max speed of 15 mph.$226.99$399.99SEE SCOOTER

Is the Razor E300 worth the investment?

Yes. But, it depends on what you want to use it for.

The E300 can, technically, support up riders up to 220 lbs – pretty much anyone can ride it. However, I would only recommend it for teenagers or adults who want a model to just have fun on, as opposed to use as a serious commuter scooter.

To be honest, the performance of the E300 is impressive with a 10 mile range and max speed of 15 mph.

However, something that you need to know before considering the E300 is that it takes a full 12 hours to charge.

Let me paint the picture for you. You decide to buy the E300 to use it to commute to work. At first, it seems like a great idea, after all – it has a range of 10 miles. But then you realize to keep using it as a commuter scooter you’d need to put it straight on charge as soon as you get in from work, all the way through to the night to the next morning, to make sure it has enough juice (12 hours worth) for the next day. All for you to repeat the process.

Now, while some of you may not see that as a big issue, I personally prefer scooters that can charge in 4.5 hours and below. They make your life a lot easier.

On the other hand, if you decide to buy the E300 to use it round the neighborhood, to go to the local store and back or general use at the weekend, it is a great option (the charge time doesn’t matter so much).

Out of all the cheap electric scooters that I have reviewed in this list, the E300 has the largest tires. They are extra wide and 10 inch in height. What does this mean for you?

Let’s find out.

First, it means that the Razor E300 provides an un-paralleled riding experience as it rolls smoothly over bumps and cracks in the floor below. In brief, it is very comfortable to ride.

Secondly, thanks to their width you can easily ride the E300 over terrain that is not just the sidewalk, instead you can ride it over the local park or dirt track. The E300 isn’t classified as an off-road scooter but it can be used off the road as long as the terrain is not too challenging e.g. if it has been raining and the dirt track turns muddy, slippy and squishy then the E300 won’t be able to handle it.

One final thing to consider is that the E300 cannot be folded. If you have somewhere to store it without it being folded though, this isn’t a problem.

To conclude, the E300 is ideal for teenagers or adults who are looking to buy a cheap electric scooter for leisurely use only

3. Razor E300S

razor e300s
Razor E300S

Razor E300S$279.99$349.99SEE SCOOTER

You may have read my review of the Razor E200S as one of the best cheap electric scooters for under $200. If you liked the look of the E200S but wanted the performance of the E300 mentioned in the review above, then the E300S is a perfect fit.

The Razor E300S is, pretty much, the exact same scooter as the E300. It can support riders up to 220 lbs, has a 10 mile range, a max speed of 15 mph, a charge time of 12 hours and extra wide and large tires.

But, it has one more feature.

A seat.

Like with the E200s the E300S comes equipped with a detachable seat and seat post meaning you can take advantage of the smooth, 15 mph, riding experience either standing or sitting.

If you were considering the E300 you could, essentially, get 2 scooters for the price of one, by spending around $50 ish dollars more on the E300S.

I won’t go into depth about what you can expect from the E300S as I have covered in my review of the E300 above. Some closing words though are: opt for the Razor E300S if you want a cheap electric scooter that delivers riding versatility.

Cheapest by Type (For Adults, Kids etc)

best cheap electric scooter for adults

One of the main things to be aware of when choosing a cheap electric scooter if you are an adult, is the weight that it can support. Don’t get suckered into buying a super cheap scooter without checking the weight limit first (often, the cheaper models are for kids – except for a few which I have listed below).

The best cheap electric scooters for adults are:

  1. GoTrax Glider – $199.99
  2. GoTrax G2 – $229.99
  3. Razor E300 – $226.99

Why Are Some Electric Scooters Cheap and Others Expensive?

There are a number of factors that affect the price of an electric scooter. Most notably:

The faster the electric scooter can go, the higher the price.

The further an electric scooter can travel, the higher the price.

The more advanced the features e.g. LED headlights, LED displays on the handlebars, cruise control etc, the higher the price.

Charge Time

The quicker the charge time, the higher the price.
