top smartphone battery life

Deciding on which smartphone to buy is no easy task especially the one with Top Smartphone Battery Life. We all need a phone with top-notch performance and a capable camera for our Instagram snaps, but a smartphone’s battery life is an increasingly important factor. No matter how excellent your brand-new phone is, it’s not much use to anyone if you’re always having to charge it.

When making your decision, it’s best to look at battery size (measured in mAh) to give you an indication of how long-lasting the phone should be. But other factors such as display size and resolution and power efficiency still play a massive part, too. But there’s no need to simply guess – we’ve got you covered when it comes to the phones with the best battery life. So what is the best phone for battery life 2020 model?

1. Realme X2 Pro

phones with the best battery life - Realme X2 Pro

It shouldn’t be too surprising to see the Realme X2 Pro on this list, as the phone was our Best of Android winner for 2019. The X2 Pro is one of the best all-around devices ever released as far as we’re concerned, offering terrific specs, awesome features, and a very competitive price.

On top of all that, it’s also a phone with some of the best battery life we’ve ever seen. Even though there are other phones on this list with bigger battery capacities, the Realme X2 Pro pushes its 4,000mAh package to the very limits, giving the user enough juice to easily power through a full day without a charge.

Even if you do somehow knock the battery down too much in a day, it doesn’t take long to top the X2 Pro up. The phone has an unreal 50W charging speed, which means you can go from a 0% charge to full in less than an hour.

The only downside to the Realme X2 Pro is that it is officially unavailable in the United States. If you feel like importing one from overseas, remember that it will only work on GSM carriers such as T-Mobile and AT&T. Verizon and Sprint will be a no-go, unfortunately.CHECK PRICING

Realme X2 Pro specs:

  • Display: 6.5-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Snapdragon 855 Plus
  • RAM: 6/8/12GB
  • Storage: 64/128/256GB
  • Cameras: 64, 13, 8, and 2MP
  • Front camera: 16MP
  • Battery: 4,000mAh
  • Software: Android 9 Pie

2. Oppo Reno Ace

Oppo Reno Ace review nestled on mulch

It also shouldn’t be too surprising to see the Oppo Reno Ace on this list of the best Android phones with the best battery life. After all, the whole marketing plan for the phone was to focus on how long the battery lasts and how fast you can charge it back up!

If you’re getting a sense of déjà vu, though, we’ll clear the air for you: yes, the Oppo Reno Ace looks a lot like the Realme X2 Pro. Yes, the two devices even have a similar spec sheet. This is because Realme is a sub-brand of Oppo (which itself is a sub-brand of BBK), so lots of resources get shared between the two companies.

As such, the Oppo Reno Ace will produce very similar results when it comes to battery longevity as the Realme X2 Pro does. However, the Reno Ace ups the ante slightly when it comes to topping up your phone by offering an absolutely bonkers 65W charging speed. With that much speed, it’s possible to fill your phone from 0% to 100% in around 30 minutes or so.

Once again, though, the Oppo Reno Ace is unavailable in the United States and would only work on GSM networks if you could even get it. If you live outside of the US, though, this will give you all the power you need!CHECK PRICING

3. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra phone with great battery life

Now that the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is officially out, there probably won’t be too many of our “Best of” lists on which it won’t appear. The superphone is a specs beast that is quite literally the best of the best in pretty much every way.

With that in mind, it’s pretty much a given that it will be one of the best Android phones with the best battery life. Its massive 5,000mAh capacity pretty much ensures you’ll get through at least one day before needing a charge, and Samsung’s Android skin — known as One UI — does a pretty good job of maximizing performance while not sacrificing too much power.

There’s one thing you need to keep in mind, though, when it comes to the power-related features of the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Although Samsung markets the phone as having a 45W charging speed, the charger that comes with the phone is only capable of 25W. If you want the device to charge as quickly as possible, you’ll need to buy the 45W charger separately.

Thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is pretty easy to get all around the world, including here in the US. You can get the phone from all the major carriers and easily find it unlocked from many third-party retailers. Just make sure you’re sitting down when you look at the price tag!CHECK PRICING

  • Display: 6.9-inch, QHD+
  • SoC: SD 865 or Exynos 990

  • Cameras: 108, 48, and 12MP + ToF
  • Front camera: 40MP

4. OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro

OnePlus 7T with a large battery

The late 2019 smartphones from OnePlus — the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro — were some of our favorite devices from last year. The two phones offer terrific specs and stunning design at a price point that pretty much everyone can appreciate.

To sweeten the deal even more, the 7T and 7T Pro are some of the best Android phones with the best battery life. OnePlus’ Android skin Oxygen OS has plenty of options and features to really make the batteries in the phones last as long as you need them to.

Keep in mind, however, that you can’t get the two devices everywhere. The OnePlus 7T is easy to obtain in pretty much every market OnePlus services — including the United States — but the OnePlus 7T Pro is only available in select locations. If you can get the OnePlus 7T Pro, we highly recommend it over the vanilla 7T — that all-screen display and pop-up selfie camera are totally worth the extra cost.

In some select areas, there is also a 5G variant of the 7T Pro known as the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition 5G. Due to the 5G connectivity, this phone won’t see the same battery life as its non-5G counterpart, so we would recommend skipping that one if you want the most juice you can get.CHECK PRICING (7T)CHECK PRICING (7T PRO)

5. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus

Samsung’s other flagship series — the Galaxy Note line — is incredibly reliable when it comes to getting an awesome design and terrific features. It should be no surprise, then, that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus is one of the best Android phones with the best battery life available.

Although the Note 10 Plus doesn’t have the biggest battery of the phones on this list, the previously mentioned One UI Android skin does a great job of making that battery last. Additionally, the Note 10 Plus can charge at up to 45W (with a different charger than what came in the box), making it easy to give it more juice if you do start running low.

For the first time ever, there were actually multiple versions of the Galaxy Note launched last year. As such, you might come across the smaller sibling of the Note 10 Plus — known simply as the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 — or the 5G version of this device. The former will have a smaller battery and the latter will use more power to connect to 5G networks, so they are not advisable choices if you’re solely worried about battery life.

As with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra mentioned earlier on this list, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus is very easy to get throughout the world. It will work on all the major carriers and is easily purchased unlocked from many different retailers.CHECK PRICING

6. Asus ROG Phone 2

Asus ROG Phone 2 with a 6,000mAh battery

If you take a quick gander at the specs sheet below for the Asus ROG Phone 2, you’ll immediately notice how it earned its spot on this list of the best Android phones with the best battery life. I mean, the phone has a gargantuan 6,000mAh battery! How could it not be on this list?

When you combine that much battery with Android 10 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, you have a recipe for a device that will last you much longer than just one day. Depending on how you use it, you could easily get multiple days out of this phone without ever going near a charger.

However, the ROG Phone 2 is (obviously) designed for gaming, which is an activity that drains the battery pretty quickly. If that’s what you intend to use this phone for, you will likely not make it through a whole day on one charge, but don’t worry: its 30W charging speed will get you topped up pretty quickly.

The Asus ROG Phone 2 is fairly easy to get around the world, although it will only work on GSM networks here in the US and there are no carrier partnerships. If you can afford to buy it unlocked, though, it will work just fine on T-Mobile, AT&T, and their various subsidiaries.CHECK PRICING

  • Display: 6.6-inch, Full HD+

  • RAM: 8/12GB

7. Honor 20 Pro

best battery life phones - Honor 20 Pro

Although Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei — which means it is also subject to the limitations of the Huawei ban — the Honor 20 Pro came out before the ban started. That means it comes with Google apps on board and even has a recent update to Android 10.

The Honor 20 Pro is also one of the best Android phones with the best battery life from 2019. It did astoundingly well in our testing, which is especially notable as it’s one of the cheaper phones on this list.

It’s also the only phone here not powered by a Qualcomm chipset, which lends some credence to the idea that Huawei’s Kirin chips can be just as good as high-end Snapdragons in at least a few ways.

Unfortunately, you won’t be seeing the charging speeds on this device that you saw on others on this list. At just over 22W, the Honor 20 Pro won’t charge slowly but won’t charge rapidly, either. It does, however, have a terrific camera system, a nice perk for what you pay for this thing!CHECK PRICING

Honor 20 Pro specs:

  • Display: 6.3-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Kirin 980
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Cameras: 48, 16, 8, and 2MP
  • Front camera: 32MP
  • Battery: 4,000mAh
  • Software: Android 10

8. Xiaomi Mi 9

The back of the Xiaomi Mi 9.

Once again, the Xiaomi Mi 9 doesn’t have the biggest battery — just 3,300mAh — but our testing showed it is an absolute monster when it comes to making that amount of juice last for as long as possible. At least some of this efficiency likely stems from the included Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, which has a power-saving 7nm construction.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 has a 6.4-inch display with a waterdrop notch at the top, which houses the 20MP selfie camera. From the front, it would be hard to distinguish the Mi 9 from other popular waterdrop smartphones, such as the OnePlus 7T or phones in the Samsung Galaxy M series.

However, the back of the device is a whole different beast. You can either opt for a colorful, glossy gradient that looks like a shining jewel, or a false back that looks like you can see the innards of the smartphone. Either way, your phone will be quite the fashion statement.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 is one of the best Android phones with the best battery life, but it is unavailable officially in the US. If you try to import it, just remember it will only work on GSM networks, which means no Sprint and no Verizon.CHECK PRICING
